Immediately
I looked around and wondered if this quiet, undeveloped town is
Sai Kung.I felt disappointed.
We got off the couch beside the new sport stadium. In front of the
stadium, several low-rise buildings face us blankly. Being indifferent
to those ordinary buildings, I chatted with my friends. After few
minutes, our supervisor, from the center of Urban planning and Environmental
Management, led us to walk around Sai Kung Town. At first, we walked
on the water promenade. Very comfortable breeze blew to my face.
Along the promenade, many seafood restaurants are being run. Restaurant
workers were busy with selling their fresh seafood to customers.
At that time, I was envious with those customers who could enjoy
such delicious and fresh seafood in such ambient environment.
The goal of visiting Sai Kung was to study Sai Kung Town and observe
it through SWOT framework. Anyway, I was not concerned about such
study. I just followed our supervisor to walk through each street
in Sai Kung Town. When we entered Sai Kung old market Town, I had
a sense of closeness to such village environment. Why? Now I know!
As I grew up in the Kowloon Wall City, I often walked on the dark,
narrow and meandering streets, such street which always led us from
a dark area to a bright area. Since this, I felt familiar with Sai
Kung Old market town. The market town is different from Kowloon
Wall City in the way that its streetscape is cleaner and more serene.
"I like this area." I said to myself!
